After Unilever became a new sponsor for the 2015 F1® season, they approached us to create bespoke collateral for guests invited to the Formula 1® race weekends. The aim was to emphasise both companies strong commitment in the areas of sustainability and expertise.

We accepted the challenge and created something that cherished this special partnership. See the work here.

We are sure that this is a long term collaboration and will therefore also bring more challenging tasks for Interstate, which we will tackle with new creative ideas, a strong team and of course speedy times …

Is the fastest a Formula 1® car has lapped the Mexico City GP Circuit. In this time Unilever produces 400 sticks of Magnum Ice Cream. At Interstate this is the time it takes our whole office to run to the kitchen when someone mentions “free cake”.

Is the fastest a Formula 1® car has lapped the Sao Paulo GP Circuit. In this time Unilever produces 700 bottles of 200ml Dove shampoo on one production line. At Interstate this is the time it takes us from sending something to print, to running to the printer and then sprinting back to the seat (considering the printer isn’t striking again).

Is the fastest a Formula 1® car has lapped the Monza GP Circuit. In this time the Unilever’s Casalpusterlengo factory produces 310 bottles of CIF Spray on one production line. At Interstate this is the daily time we spend fighting against the coffee machine to get the much needed coffee to keep us going.

When our friends at Natoora told us they would be taking part in the summer festival I got a little excited at the prospect of not only attending the event, but also being able to design something for it.

For those not aware of this sumptuous festival I’ll explain a little about it. The festival happens twice a year, once in the summer and again in the winter. This year’s summer festival was held in Regent’s Park and promised to be the biggest and best ever! They did not disappoint!

Businesses of all sizes are in attendance, from artisan producers to worldwide brands and small niche eateries to legendary fine dining establishments. There is an abundance of food and drink to be had and you are only ever a few yards away from a freebie or two. Including samples of the delicious white peaches from Natoora.

This year Natoora were on the same stall as master chef  Theo Randall, supplying all the fruit and vegetables for the shared stand. Interstate designed part of the stand including some large format posters, smaller sized chalkboards as well as limited edition bags that were given away with signed copies of Theo Randall’s latest book. The stand was always busy and the peaches were a big hit with everyone waiting for food.

Being from Scotland I did not let the good ol’ Scottish weather of rain showers ruin my evening. I ate the finest cuisine from some of London’s top restaurants. I drank Pina Colada from the inside of a scooped out pineapple and I rubbed shoulders with some of the world’s best chefs, not to mention the excitement of seeing the work we produced being used in the real world. As a designer there is nothing better than seeing your work out there and I’m sure every designer still gets that feeling of pride regardless of the scale of the job.

]]> It’s not often we’re asked to get our hands really dirty in the name of motor sport expression but in this instance we needed to shake up the status quo and have some serious fun with a spray gun.The ‘status quo being the VW Motorsport end of season celebration party in Wolfsburg with an exhibition of Helena El Mokni’s 14 iconic World Rally Championship photographs, elegantly framed in dark cedar ‘upstaged’ by two of her Global Rallycross shots from Las Vegas in bespoke, hand painted, sprayed and stencilled frames – with attitude.

Inspired by the graffiti art of Vegas and the figure work of American artist Keith Haring the frames used the stars and stripes graphic and key colours from the two Andretti Autosport operated VW Beetles, Rockstar yellow and 7Up green.

These funky additions to the exhibition set proved a popular choice as a further frame has recently been completed and is now adorning the wall of VW senior management.

Interstate MENA have recently worked alongside Manama Realty to design a set of construction screen billboards that surround the site of a much needed carpark within The Diplomatic Area in Manama, Bahrain.

The boards bring a bright colourful contrast to the surrounding office buildings and are designed to encourage patrons to reserve and rent the carpark spaces within.

The striking flat colour ‘pop art’ style is something quite new for the region and certainly seems to be grabbing the attention.

Over the past few months we have been busy designing a fresh new identity for the ‘Grand Prix Trust’ – a charity that supports past and present F1 mechanics, engineers and their families in times of need.

Founder and trustee of the charity, Sir Jackie Stewart recently unveiled the new identity at the Williams Conference Centre and gave everyone a taster of what is to come.

We’re excited with how the project is developing and we are looking forward to revealing more of the brand over the coming months – helping give this great cause the limelight it deserves.

Celebrating its 25th birthday, BBC GoodFood has been feeding the nation with delicious dishes and giving top tips for the kitchen. To celebrate this benchmark, BBC GoodFood has recently refreshed its identity and Interstate was tasked with bringing it to life across its highly successful set of best-selling books.

We created a fresh and colourful design, guaranteed to stand out on the shelves and easy to use in the kitchen.

We are delighted with the results and can’t wait to get our aprons on.

Conceptualised, planned and designed by Interstate, the 2014 edition of The Power of Formula 1 is our latest project hot off the press. With the launch at this weekends Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, this spectacular hybrid package of print and digital is soon to be in the hands of an exclusive audience.

Interstate have produced the ‘purpose document for Formula 1, more of an experience than a printed product. An experience that truly reflects the synthesis of sport and business that combine to form Formula 1 in the 21st Century.

Over 3.5kg in weight, this box set of books and digital material feature over 500 stunning images from a range of Formula 1’s top photographers supported by over 20,000 words. All of this adds up to be one of the most extensive and comprehensive brand documents we have produced. With the pinnacle of motor sport as the client, we knew we had to take this to the next level.

Interstate are loud and proud to be at CES 2014. It is not everyday that you get to be part of a collaboration bringing together a car worth $ 4.5million dollars and a $ 50k sound system. You can’t help but be excited by one of the most dramatic cars of the generation, the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster coming together with Monster’s breakthrough technology ‘Pure Monster Sound’, which has been specially tuned by the Head Monster himself – Noel Lee. Its pure wow stuff.

The opportunity to work on the Lamborghini and Monster collaboration has been…cool.

Tuesday morning took James and myself down to Clerkenwell for the opening of Fedrigoni’s Imaginative Papers Studio showroom.

This was a great opportunity for us to check the true potential of Fedrigoni’s special papers. With shelves of impressive client samples, draws full of versatile stocks and stacks of beautifully designed Fedrigoni paper packs.

For this special event Fedrigoni collaborated with printmakers People of Print and graphic artist/print-maker/designer Anthony Burrill for a screen printing taster to celebrate the launch of Materica, a range of empathetic papers giving the same tactile and visual sensations as the natural elements that have inspired them. This was an exciting experience for us design geeks as we had the opportunity to screen print our own Anthony Burrill designed screens, which were then signed by the man himself.
