State of the Art

20th April 2012 State of the Art

Our esteemed Creative Director Nigel Gray is definitely of the old school. Put more fairly he’s uncomfortable with technology. He’s not the only one of course, it takes a particular kind of person to actually enjoy working with computers and that delight doesn’t always exist in the creative brain. So how does the classically trained [...]

Same but different

22nd September 2011 Same but different

Spotted in a toyshop recently, a pastiche of the PVAXX wordmark originally created by Interstate to feature on the side of the late season Renault R26 and launch R27 F1 cars. The entire car including ING have been given a ‘tweak’ to still replicate the brands but obviously not use the real names.

When you already have a sponsor for a Motorsport team it’s easy to think that the work’s been done. But it’s important to give the sponsors image as much care and attention as you can, because retention is as important as a win. With this in mind the Spanish borne Addax GP2 racing team commissioned [...]

QPRide

17th August 2011 QPRide

In early 2011 one football club in London raised a large silver trophy into the air and 18,000 fans roared their approval. The club was a small club by today’s standards and the home crowd would barely fill a quarter of the seats in a stadium such as the Camp Nou in Barcelona. Even up [...]

The much anticipated sequel game to Need For Speed by EA will feature cars from the GT1 and GT3 championships. Lotus & Moss Reunited

15th February 2011 Lotus & Moss Reunited

It’s been a while since Sir Stirling Moss created history in a Lotus single-seater, but at the recent Paris Motor show he got to see the new Lotus T125 in the ‘flesh’ – it’s first appearance in Europe; his guide being no less than Takuma Sato. The car is currently track-testing with potential customers who [...]

This one goes up to 11…

21st January 2011 This one goes up to 11…

Sometimes it’s hard to deny that the universe is attempting to contact us. And since the start of the DesignWeek football season back in December, I’ve been getting this nagging feeling that won’t go away. The Interstate football team’s first outing saw them starting on the back foot. Up against the Man Utd of the [...]

A century of Olympic posters

2nd November 2010 A century of Olympic posters

Passing the local library, I stumbled upon a graphic designers dream; a collection of Olympic posters showcasing the past century of games. Styles have changed over the years from strong, almost propaganda style glorious paintings, to minimalist iconic graphic art. In my opinion, the style peaked in Mexico ’68 (main image).
