Way back in ’06, we were appointed to formulate the brand identity for the FIA Institute Excellence programme, intended to form the cornerstone of the FIA Institute’s aim to drive and reward excellence in all aspects of motor sport safety and sustainability. The original Interstate design focused on the first iteration of the programme through […]

GT1 & GT3 Identities to feature in Shift 2 Unleashed

15th March 2011

The much anticipated sequel game to Need For Speed by EA will feature cars from the GT1 and GT3 championships. The realism and detailing in Need For Speed, Shift 2 Unleashed is impressive, right down to the Series’ logos on the bonnet, sun-strip and door numbering panels; all designed by Interstate.

Lotus & Moss Reunited

15th February 2011

It’s been a while since Sir Stirling Moss created history in a Lotus single-seater, but at the recent Paris Motor show he got to see the new Lotus T125 in the ‘flesh’ – it’s first appearance in Europe; his guide being no less than Takuma Sato. The car is currently track-testing with potential customers who […]

This one goes up to 11…

21st January 2011

Sometimes it’s hard to deny that the universe is attempting to contact us. And since the start of the DesignWeek football season back in December, I’ve been getting this nagging feeling that won’t go away. The Interstate football team’s first outing saw them starting on the back foot. Up against the Man Utd of the […]

A century of Olympic posters

A century of Olympic posters

2nd November 2010

Passing the local library, I stumbled upon a graphic designers dream; a collection of Olympic posters showcasing the past century of games. Styles have changed over the years from strong, almost propaganda style glorious paintings, to minimalist iconic graphic art. In my opinion, the style peaked in Mexico ’68 (main image).

Amazing what brands can do to help the consumer. Paul Frank have just launched a great initiative Julius branded bike saddle covers. Julius himself has been sighted kindly keeping Londoners bums dry! A promotion with a fun and helpful twist for the Barbican ‘Bicycle Film Festival’, that showcased new shorts, features and archive treats about everything bike.

Some cheeky and funky stuff from a naughty monkey that has some stories to tell. He’s been around for a while but we think he is conspiring to have more fun in the UK soon.

The staying-power of Formula 1

The staying-power of Formula 1

8th August 2010

This afternoon at Laguna Seca I watched a race featuring classic Formula 1 cars. It’s amazing to think that these cars, some of which are over 30 years old, are still maintained and kept in race condition for reunion events like this. Having recently worked on The Power of Formula 1 project it was also great to see some of the cars featured in the flesh… or bodywork!

Capturing It!

On more than one occasion recently I have noticed some quite prominent exposure of the font we used for the Play F.C. branding project. I suspect this is just coincidence and down to the fact that since using it I have become visually aware of its characteristics. Interestingly though, albeit for one example, the context in which it is used is far removed from the motive behind using it for Play F.C.

*For Charity

Interstate have recently designed the identity for a charity 6-a-side football tournament to take place at West Ham United’s Upton Park this summer. The event, scheduled for Wednesday June 9th (two days before the World Cup gets underway in South Africa) has been arranged by management consultancy Value Partners and aims to raise a substantial amount of money for the One to One Children’s Fund’s fight against HIV and AIDS amongst African children.
