Europe’s largest street party on our doorstep.28th August 2012
This bank holiday saw Europe’s biggest street festival arrive in Notting Hill once again. Notting Hill Carnival is an annual celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture in London, which has graced the W11 area since 1964!
The carnival is a feast for the senses, with the beautifully colourful costumes of the parade, the mouth watering aroma of Caribbean food in the air and the variety of sound systems offering reggae, dub and soca, among many other music genres. With over one million people taking to the streets of Notting Hill in celebration, the atmosphere was absolutely electric! With the success of the Olympics in London this year, what better way to round off such a great summer than a street party?!
This was the third year I’ve attended the carnival since moving to London, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
