In early 2011 one football club in London raised a large silver trophy into the air and 18,000 fans roared their approval. The club was a small club by today’s standards and the home crowd would barely fill a quarter of the seats in a stadium such as the Camp Nou in Barcelona. Even up […]

Lose Yourself in a Good Book

9th February 2011

Last Friday saw the re-release of Marian Keyes’ latest novel, The Brightest Star in the Sky, which we at Interstate are very excited about. Having been approached by Penguin back in October last year, following our hugely successful Jamie Oliver/Penguin collaboration, we were briefed to create a fresh new look for the Queen of Chick-Lit. This one goes up to 11…

21st January 2011

Sometimes it’s hard to deny that the universe is attempting to contact us. And since the start of the DesignWeek football season back in December, I’ve been getting this nagging feeling that won’t go away. The Interstate football team’s first outing saw them starting on the back foot. Up against the Man Utd of the […]

Last night saw the debut launch of Jamie Oliver’s new fragrance, ‘J’ai Mangé‘ on his Christmas tv show ‘Jamie’s Christmas Lock-In‘. As Interstate branded the ‘spoof’ scent, Louise and I were invited back stage to the filming of the programme to see Jamie in action winding up his celebrity guests. It was great seeing everyones […]

Last night Lucy and I were invited to the filming of Jamie’s Christmas programme, which couldn’t have been timed better with all the snow fall over these past few days. It was great to see how a TV show is made and how it all pieces together. We’ll tell you all about the shinannigans from […]

A century of Olympic posters

A century of Olympic posters

2nd November 2010

Passing the local library, I stumbled upon a graphic designers dream; a collection of Olympic posters showcasing the past century of games. Styles have changed over the years from strong, almost propaganda style glorious paintings, to minimalist iconic graphic art. In my opinion, the style peaked in Mexico ’68 (main image).

Funky Monkey

Funky Monkey

Image from the Telegraph’s Picture of the day

Amazing what brands can do to help the consumer. Paul Frank have just launched a great initiative Julius branded bike saddle covers. Julius himself has been sighted kindly keeping Londoners bums dry! A promotion with a fun and helpful twist for the Barbican ‘Bicycle Film Festival’, that showcased new shorts, features and archive treats about everything bike.

Some cheeky and funky stuff from a naughty monkey that has some stories to tell. He’s been around for a while but we think he is conspiring to have more fun in the UK soon.

Buy Your London Borough for £495

Buy Your London Borough for £495

30th June 2010

London artist Stephen Walter has hand-drawn a map of all 32 London boroughs to create a fictitious island of London, simply titled ‘The Island’. Taking a year and a half to create, the map accurately details all of London’s hamlets through geographic locations, descriptions of their surroundings, and tells of events that have happened from years gone by as well as his own experiences in each place. On display at the British Library, the map can be viewed in the current exhibition Magnificent Maps: Power, Propaganda and Art until 19th September 2010 (and also in great detail on their website).

As creative brand advisors we encourage our clients to invest in future solutions. On one of my frequent gallery tours of London,  I started wondering what the future Museum walk will be like. Being a keen list-maker ( I will create top tens of just about anything ), I started browsing the web for key trends.
These are my observations for 2010.
